Alternators is a new series directly aimed at collectors, which started late in 2003 in Japan (where the line is known as BinalTech, and in 2004 in North America. Like the very first Transformers in 1984-85, the Alternators have alternate modes based on real vehicles. About a dozen Alternators have been released so far: Smokescreen, Side Swipe, Hound, Silverstreak, Tracks, Dead End, Grimlock, Windcharger, Battle Ravage, Swindle, Wheeljack, Shockblast and Decepticharge.

Alternators in the Nordic Countries
Hasbro Nordic started marketing the Alternators in the Nordic countries in the first half of 2005. So far we have seen Swindle and Windcharger in Nordic toy stores.
