A scene from the game: Optimus Prime's path is blocked by three small Decepticons
Transformers: The Game
Transformers: The Game

The cover of the game shows Optimus Prime and Megatron face to face, staring at each other like two gladiators ready to fight to the finish.

In conjunction with the Transformers movie, Activision is releasing an official video game for several platforms. You can choose whether you want to play as the Autobots or as the Decepticons, and naturally the object of the game changes depending on what side you choose: as the Autobots your mission is to protect civilization; as the Decepticons, your objective is to destroy it!

The game allows seamless transformations at the touch of a button, enhancing players' combat strategy with a range of options in both vehicle and robot modes that take full advantage of the characters dual forms.

For head-to-head battles, you engage in melee combat that reflects each Transformer's character, scale, weight and power along with melee weapons and special moves unique to each character. The games ranged combat offers a wide array of projective weapons designed to take out enemies from afar. In addition to the robots' own weaponry you can use pretty much anything in the surrounding environment as weapons. Crush, topple, and wreck every object - including buildings and vehicles - or throw them at your foes! It is up to the gamer to decide how best to use their surrounding environment.

Platforms/versions:

XBox 360, XBox 360 Cybertron edition, PS3, PS2, Wii, Nintendo DS: Autobots, Nintendo DS: Decepticons, PSP, and PC.

Each platform has different features. The console versions will have more features, but some are only included on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and possibly the PC version.
