When trying to write the ' apostrophe in the Latest acquisition - non TF thread I instead opened the "find" bar at the bottom of the page. Has this happened to anyone else?
It obviously didn't happen in this post seeing as I have managed to write it twice now. I've tried writing it in other posts in other forums, in word and notepad, and it didn't open the bar, so it has only happened in writing my post in the Latest acquisitions thread so far.

Hm, I can't replicate the problem...

It doesn't happen here any more either.

That happened to me too, but that's because it's a shortcut-key in Firefox. It only happens when you click with the mouse outside the textbox and then press '.

Yes, it does that when I click outside the box and then press '. I learned something new there. Thanks bigpete.
The problem is, I wasn't clicking any mousebuttons when it happened. I use both hands when I type, so both hands were centered over the keyboard. Left pinky on shift, right middle finger on i, then right pinky on ' and I wrote ve in the find box at the bottom of the page.
The cat who usually stomps around the mouse and keyboard wasn't anywhere near anything this time, so she couldn't be the culprit either. Something is still fishy..

you're using a laptop right? if it has a trackpad you might have touched it. They're not 100% reliable and very touchy, and register things even when you're not doing anything. Same thing if you have a cordless mouse. Sometimes it registers movement even though you're not using it. Could that be it?

I was using our stationary pc at the time, but it does have a cordless mouse, so that might be it.

Hmm I think there might be a problem with our mouse. I had a very annoying moment when sneaking up on some bad guys in HL2 a couple of days ago. The mouse decided it was a good idea to start blasting away at full auto while I was sneaking.

If you have an optical mouse, make sure you use it on a non-reflective surface, like a mouse pad clad with felt. Not one of the plastic mouse pads - if the surface is the least bit reflective, it will make the mouse pointer start to wander at some point. Even a non-coated sheet of paper is better than a plastic mouse pad. (A lesson my co-workers at the stamp firm have yet to learn; we have 2-3 computers with wandering mouse pointers - in all cases because they use the mouse on a plastic mouse pad, or directly on a varnished table)

Well, things like that happen. I don't think your mouse is the problem, I think it's the technology that isn't fully developed yet. Another fine example on what happens when you release new stuff without testing it properly first, even though cordless technology isn't that new anymore.... Hmmm.... Sounds just like every product Microsoft has ever made.. ;)

It does wander. Usually to the left with an enormous speed. It's really annoying.

my mouse did that ones, when i did get phone call in my work cellphone what was next to my computer table..

My computer does that too. Same thing with my radio at work! I never hear the phone itself, just the radio stuttering.

It's because of the radiowaves the phone receives the call or message through.
