Full version: Kre-O Transformers a total letdown

When I first read about the Kre-O Transformers, I was excited about them. Both the robot and vehicle modes looked good and were a great step upwards from the meager Built to Rule series. Then later on, when the series was released, I found out that you can't actually transform the figure but instead you have to dismantle it into pieces and build the other form all over. shocked.gif Now come on! ravingmad.gif Transforming Lego block figures aren't that hard to make. In my childhood, I've made tens of Lego Transformers that can be transformed. Incuding Optimus Prime. I bet that if Lego had had the TF license they would've come up with Transformers that can actually transform!

Sorry, I had to rant out a little steam about this.

I agree. It's just lazy design IMO. And considering how poor some of the robot modes look (Starscream for example), there's just no excuse.

At the moment, the only thing that interests me about Kre-O are the minifigures. Those are awesome! If they follow Lego's and Mega Brand's lead and release cheap blindbagged TF Kre-ons, I'll be all over them. But I'm not going to buy the models just for the minifigs.

Agree with this one. I had Prime ordered but when I found out it couldn't transform I had 0 interest, and yes if Lego had TFs through their design library I'm sure we'd get some kind of transforming Technics Optimus Prime and Bumbledee.
I still don't understand Hasbro because Lego is doing so extremely well with Star Wars Lego which Hasbro really benefit from.

Yeah, I don't see the point of this line. Maybe it's not aimed at transformers fans as much as Lego fans, kinda like the Star Wars transformers, I suppose where aimed primarily at Star Wars fans. So it’s a definite pass for me!
Btw, if I understand it correctly, Kre-O is not a Lego product but compatible with Lego?

Fairly certain its compatible with Lego.

Has Lego's patent expired or how come there are so many compatible (read cheap-ass copies) brands on the market?

A while back Lego lost a patent lawsuit regarding their brick design, which made the general design fair game for everyone else. This is why there's been tons of cheap Lego look-a-likes popping up like mushrooms out of the ground.

Hey, how about a competition to Auto Assembly Europe? You take the blocks that are included in a Kre-O figure and create a robot that can actually transform into a vehicle. Best design wins a prize.

I am actually looking forward to the Kre-O Megatron because he looks kind of cool, and I want to see if I still enjoy building stuff with Leg... sorry, Kre-O blocks.
I loved Lego when I was young. But that was then, haven't done that for many many years...
I will give this a shot and give the final verdict when that is done biggrin.gif
