So, the third episode has been aired and the fourth is airing tonight. Discuss! smile.gif

The story segment has finally been revealed.

It's an all new story in the history of Transformers AFAIK, or at least when it comes to the cartoons. Not too sure about the comics. We get Transformers ZOMBIES.

I haven't decided yet if I love it or hate it. Time will tell. It's definitely a new take on the story though, even though zombies are very popular at the moment with a bunch of new movies and TV shows.

We also got to meet Soundwave this time. I sure hope his only function in this show is not to only repeat what others are saying. Also, he's a Breastmaster now. Who knew? wink2.gif

Frank Welker did a much better job with Megatron this time around, and the line "we've been at this a long time" really sent nerd shivers down my spine, hehe smile.gif

Not liking the use of the kids as plot devices. Still getting a really bad A/E/C vibe from them, even though it's better written this time, as in Raf being able to use the computers since they're Earth technology, compared to Armada where the kids had this magic knowledge and understanding of Cybertronian technology... And I hate Miko. She needs to get stepped on. NOW.

Also, I really like Bulkhead. More mature but still a goofball. Like me wink2.gif The situation where he tells Miko to look away as he doesn't want her to see 'con innards (graphic violence!) is priceless.

First episode:

- Meh, little boring

Second episode:

- Omg a zombie Cliff!
- the battle was fun to watch

Third episode:

- Quite poring begining but in the end: ZOMBIES!!!
- I realy wanted to see and hear more about the battle Optimus was speaking of but hopefully well learn more of that in the next episode.

So far it's been a realy slow start. Hopefully it'll turn to second gear once the intro episodes are over.

I moved your post here, since technically it's spoiling the series up to episode three. [LE/Groundsplitter]

I'm quite liking where this is going! It's starting to feel like the story is slowly taking shape along with the characters.

I quite like "zombie" plotline as I like to think it opens up for some quite interesting story elements. Although on the other hand, it could also open up for some really cheap writing (Megatron is about to fight the Autobots, but there just happens to be a mass of dead transformers under them. One shard of Dark Energon and hey, insta zombie army.)

Seconded. I can stand Jack and Raf. But Miko... UGH! I never thought the day would come when I'd witness a character more stupid then Carlos from Armada. But when Miko decided to keep holding the guitar even though Fowler was present, or sneak with Bulkhead and even thinking that she would be able to help take down an Eradicon with a small rock she was barely even able to lift? To quote Ratchet from the first episode: Puuhleeaase...

Well, the story do gets better the as the episodes goes.
I think that I feel the same as Bulkhead when the kids are with him when investigating the Decepticon mothership.

Like Tformer so do I hope that they won't do something lazy with the "zombie" plotline.

I'm not going to waste energy on spoilerspace. It is after all a spoiler forum.
I don't like this new show at all. I said last week that I did not want to see a show with drooling robotic zombies, and what do we get? drooling robotic zombies. Yay.
I really cringed when Megatron said that he would raise an army of the undead. It felt like I was watching an old b-movie with Count Dracula and his merry men, not an episode of Transformers.

The kids in this show is really taking the grand prize when it comes to being stupid. They even manage to beat Spike in stupidity, believing that they can make a difference in the battle. Miko was stupid enough, following Bulkhead, but the other two weren't much better. They should have remained in base and waited for Arcee to come back.

Regarding the robotic characters, I think they made a good job with Bulkhead. He's way better than he was in Animated, where he was just a comic relief. Here he may not be the brightest of the group, but he's serious. I like him.
Ratchet is also handled well. He also reminds me of his counterpart from Animated being grumpy and all.
Frank Welker did a little better with Megatron's voice in this episode, making it much darker then previously.

For once I actually caught myself missing some elements from the old G1 cartoon. When Agent Fowler was attacked, I heard Cliffjumpers line from More then meets the eye part 1 in my head:
-What is that thing up there?
I was wondering the same thing. In the old cartoon we got a good presentation of all the characters. Now we are almost expected to have read through wikipedia before watching the cartoon to understand what we are seeing.

To sum this up. I'm not going to give this show many more episodes. I think G.I. Joe: Renegades was much better than this show.

The same thing occurred to me as well. As a fan it doesn't bother me very much in some cases. But for newer fans and the casual audience (i.e., kids) it'll just make things incredibly confusing. Megatron constantly refers to Dark Energon as the life blood of Unicron, yet Unicron has never been shown or explained. Fans of G1 or the Unicron Trilogy will of course know who he is, but those who've stuck with just the movies or animated will most likely have no clue.

Some late notes:

I didn't find the music quite as obtrusive in this episode as in the first two; seems that they decided to tone it down/back a bit. Good thing too, since the soundtrack lacks variation and is way too pompous for a series on this scale.

I think we can consider it established that Soundwave doesn't have a voice of his own in this series. When he played the voiceclip of Megatron in one of the first two episodes you can argue that it served as a blunt reminder to Starscream what their orders were, but here he had no good reason to "borrow" Arcee's words for his phrase. So I think it's obvious that he had to search for a recorded phrase that fit what he wanted to say, since he isn't capable of uttering the words himself.

I can't get the children's ages to fit. It was established in one of the two first episodes that Jack is 16 years old, and it's obvious that he considers himself to be significantly older than the other two - he seems to see himself as the odd person in the trio, doesn't want to be grouped with "the children". But here in the third episode, when Miko asks if Raph is two (a question that seems honest enough that I come to the conclusion that she really sees him as a young brat; obviously not two, but still considerably younger than her), Raph replies that he's 12 (and a quarter).
Where the heck does that leave Miko? Say that she's 14. Apart from the fact that most 14-year olds aren't as immature and irresponsible as she is, it doesn't seem logical to me that a 16-year old would consider a 14-year old to belong to a completely different age bracket (in fact, it's close enough that a mature 14-year old girl is dating material), nor that a 14-year old would wonder if a 12-year old is a pre-schooler.
I think the writers have botched the ages. Maybe they were meant to be more distant originally, but somewhere along the line someone decided to make them closer to each other in age. If I were to guess their ages, I would leave Jack at 16 (possibly closing in on 17), put Raph at 9 or 10 (he's already a wonder-child, so it wouldn't change things much to make him even younger), and Miko at 13 and in the middle of early puberty, to explain her immaturity, rash decisions and inability to follow emphasized instructions and warnings. Then the children's disposition towards each other would fit.
