Full version: New TF Generations figures unweiled at CybertronCon

Protek
Pictures of the upcoming Generations figures were displayed at CybertronCon.

Based on the pictures, Jazz looks a bit meh-hy but Tracks and Windcharger are actually quite nice. Legends OP achieves what Classics and RobotMasters OP didn't. Also legends Megs and Starscream are quite nice.

Nice figures. thumbs.gif

Well, I myself was hoping for to make an appearance in the Classics series, so I feel that this is better then nothing. happy.gif

Interesting, that they decided to make Perceptor into a vehicle this time. But he still looks very reminiscent of his original self. thumbs.gif

Well, Thunderwing is not a so familiar character to me, but I still think he looks quite nice. wink2.gif

I was actually hoping for a new Grapple figure, and this one looks really good.
And it was a fun surprise to see Lugnut again. happy.gif

I only hope that Windcharger will not be the only figure in Scout size. I would like to see Warpath, Cosmos, or maybe the Insecticons in that size too. smile.gif

The Powercore Combiners 5-packs looks quite good, as well as the Legends figures. wink2.gif

To put it shortly… I'm looking forward to these new figures. laugh.gif
Tformer
Heh. I was thinking that I'd be able to cut down a bit on my TF purchases a bit this year, as it earlier only seemed like there'd be a handful of figures I'd be interested in. Then Hasbro unveils their plans for Generations and my wallet cried in pain biggrin.gif

I'm especially looking forward to Scourge and Thunderwing. My favorite G1 season is the third one and I'll finally be able to put together the three main Decepticons without paying a crazy aftermarket price for a Botcon Scourge (who doesn't even look much like him at all, aside from the head). Thunderwing looks like he's drawing a lot from the Stormbringer comics, which I really enjoyed. It's just a shame that the Generations line is tied to being Deluxes only though, since he was such a massive monstrosity in the comics. wink2.gif
Inkku
i want Jazz.. and Perseptor (in the name of the reddynes..) Windcharger.. shocked.gif iiiiiiii... drool2.gif

now.. the only thing now is to get those babies on sale in local market.. evillaugh.gif

Not the first time they made Perceptor into a vehicle, my friend smile.gif . They repainted Legends Of Cybertron Red Alert into Classics Autobot Perceptor. But it is indeed interesting to see that they have made a whole new mold with design elements reminiscent of G1 Perceptor. Vehicle mode is a half-track, which is quite original in Transformers terms.

I have high hopes for the Power Core Combiners, but I want to see these made as Voyager and Ultra Class toys as well, not just Deluxes (Ultra Class main body and Deluxe Class limbs. I can dream (on), can't I wink2.gif tongue.gif )?

If you ask me, the current Power Core Combiners, those we've seen in the stores and those that are on the way, looks more like Scout size then Deluxe. But they do feel like Deluxe when they combine with their drones.

I can't believe that I forgot That Perceptor. And yet I got it in my collection. Silly me. blush2.gif

You are forgiven wink2.gif .It's only a repaint and does not share much with the original apart from the name and a slightly resembling paint scheme.
Lucar-tron
They all look pretty nice, especially Tracks and Scourge.
Fighbird
Extremely nice line-up we've got coming!
  • Jazz - seems very close to the 1984 toy and "streamlined" with the cartoon model. Very nice!
  • Perceptor - excellent with a new mold for him, and I'm a sucker for SUV's. Here's hoping that the robot mode is mistransformed (the arms look weird to me and the body is in general way too bulky for this character IMO)
  • Scourge - Hmmm. The Titanium version is closer to the G1 version(s) than this one, but this one has what appears to be Fracas...! drool2.gif Again a case of mistransformation what with the seperated shoulders; robot mode is nice but the vehicle mode...?
  • Thunderwing - Very nice! Very close to the toy appearance, but was never really a major player in my childhood TF universe (which is a major factor for me in nostalgia-ness wink2.gif ).
  • Tracks - looks mistransformed again, what with the small white wings not extended behind his arms. Nice mold, even though nothing will ever replace him being a Corvette in my mind.
  • Legends Gold Bumblebee - the inevitable repaint. smile.gif Good thing that Goldbug is getting some lovin', though.
  • Legends Megatron - At least gun mode is back, but robot mode looks... gimpy to me. Have to wait for better close-ups before I make final judgement, though.
  • Legends Prime - Looks rather good, actually. But again, I need better images of robot mode.
  • Legends Starscream - Wow! Looks awesome! A mini-combo of the Universe and the Legends Animated mold, it seems! Nice!
  • PCC Constructicons - Not a big fan of the PCC line, but the gestalt looks pretty dense and blocky - something none of the previous releases have been, IMO
  • PCC Dinobots - Heheheh. Fan-boy wanking at its best! smile.gif Looks messy to me, but will please a lot of fans, I think.
  • Windcharger - Doesn't look like the character to me, but the mold seems interesting. Is that a rub mark on the front of the hood?
  • Grapple - I *need* this! tongue.gif
  • Lugnut - hopefully mistransformed again with too much bulk below the hip. Glad that Animated gets some lovin', but I prefer the Animated toys.

All in all, a very nice line-up for 2011! smile.gif Here's hoping for more gems before Hasbro goes into TF3 mode.

Wow, looking good. Definitely something to look forward to. smile.gif

And Wreck-Gar now joins the fray! He looks great to boot, a sure purchase once he hits online retailers biggrin.gif

You're Right! drool2.gif

Worthy of my interest. Hehe. laugh.gif
Summerganny
First Transformers comics that I got were from the early 90's (Scream of Primus, search of Matrix and other epic stories by Simon Furman!) and Thunderwing impressed me. So I'm really excited that my favourite decepticon will be released as a Generations toy. w00t.gif Looks fantastic.

Wreck-Gar looks quite good too. And what a mustache... cool.gif
Lucar-tron
Wreck-Gar looks really cool, so he will probably be one of the Generations Transformers that I'll buy. smile.gif
Fighbird
Love the headsculpt! But the asymmetrical legs look weird to me... I'll wait for better pics, but I think I'll be getting Tracks and Jazz and Perceptor and all other pre-movie G1 characters from Universe.
Smokescreen
G2 Laser Prime has also been confirmed, along with Legends Trailbreaker (actually Trailcutter, but yeah). Probably not getting any of them but some people would disagree. Adding Wreck-Gar to my must-have list, and taking him off my "sort of want but don't want to start an Animated shelf" list biggrin.gif
Smokescreen
Oh, and images of the new figures appeared, in Hasbro Photoshop mode. Tracks finally looks good, Jazz looks awesome, Thunderwing looks awesome and Windcharger looks awesome. Add Wreck-Gar, Grapple and Perceptor to that and Generations will be awesome indeed.

Now to see if I can make a deluxe PM Optimus to battle with Thunderwing...
Alpha Prime
Yeah, man.

Looks like Classics/Universe/Generations will be the most awesome part of my collection.
Hehe. laugh.gif

Being the resident Windcharger nut, I have to admit, that that little Scout toy is looking better and better by the minute. The first PowerPoint stuff we saw of him from some fan-event were too blurry to make anything specific out, but - to me - these detailed ones really show that they've tried to add as much of the G1 character as possible: The tell-tale black "mesh" from the rear windshield on his lower legs; the wheels on the shoulders; a cartoon-inspired face.

Man, I'm gonna repaint that little thing from here to heck! Purple/pink, all-black, yellow/black... tongue.gif

Oh yeah! Jazz, Tracks, Lugnut, Wreck-Gar and Kup drool2.gif drool2.gif drool2.gif

At some point I promised myself not to buy anymore transformers until I go to BotCon 2011 but I can't resist those bits of plastic.
Damn them biggrin.gif

New pictures verify Fracas! yahoo.gif although alt mode still looks iffy... But YAY! for Fracas! tongue.gif

Ain't really feeling G2 Prime, but I like the more non-square look of his robot mode.

Also, pics of Wheeljack and Rumble/Frenzy! - drool2.gif

Wheeljack has just the right amount of retooling to make him different from Tracks. Bravo! smile.gif

And Rumble/Frenzy as tanks? Brilliant idea! smile.gif And good-looking tanks as well! Hope they aren't too fiddly.

I pre-orderd nearly every united figures since I found them to be the best homages yet. However Rumble and Frenzy I don't like. The remind me too much of the energon figures for Bruticus Maximus. Also transforming into Gepard AAA's doesn't seem to fit their personalities at all... why not mortar carriers instead ?

(Stryker)

Better pics of the newer announcements.

Scourge looks decent in robot mode (and still "YAY!" for Fracas! wink2.gif ).

And new info (for me) with the pile-driver arms for Frenzy/Rumble. Too bad that the unpainted resin models look worse than the blurry colored pic from before. tongue.gif
Protek
Now, that's a Wheeljack! drool2.gif

So, are these coming out first as United or Generations? Starting to get confused here.

Is Wheeljack a mold variation of Tracks?
Fighbird
Am equally confused about release order ATM, but I figure that Hasbro will be first (they usually are).

And yes, Wheeljack is the Tracks mold with the legs facing backwards and a new headsculpt; his "tools" are possibly also new, but am not 100% sure.
Smokescreen
Wheeljack's "tools" are just Tracks' missiles held by the tip.

Also, it seems Scourge's gun won't transform. Quite possible that Cyclonus will remain the only Targetmaster, until someone makes third party versions for Hot Rod, Kup and Scourge.

Dammit, it seems that you are right. tongue.gif Astonishingly, Scourge now went from "must get" to "meh" in my book.... happy.gif

hehe I always preferred Scourge without TM - I like his head booster more biggrin.gif
Lucar-tron
Wheeljack looks cool, and Rumble/Frenzy looks really nice. Scourge looks interesting. Not sure if I'm going to buy all of them, because of my budget that is. tongue.gif

I think this alt mode would be very becoming for Rumble and Frenzy: tongue.gif
Tformer
Amazon.co.jp has just put up listings with new photos of the United versions of Frenzy/Rumble, Scourge, Wheeljack and G2 Optimus Prime. smile.gif

Frenzy/Rumble are looking better then before. I'm LOVING the headsculpt! The tank mode is neat as well.

And Wheeljacks vehicle mode = drool2.gif It's amazing what a few remolded parts and a new colourscheme can do for a mold. Definitely on top of my want list for 2011! biggrin.gif

Too bad they didn't make him retro by keeping the original's Lancia Stratos body. That look still works for me smile.gif .
Smokescreen
Definitely getting Wheeljack (and Tracks), most likely getting F/R and Scourge, most likely not getting G2 Optimus. While it's an awesome update, I didn't get Cheetor, Dinobot or Hotshot as this line is a replacement for G1 for me, and I don't care enough about the others to get them updated. With that said, bring on a RiD Optimus (preferrably voyager sized) so we can have a Hot Spot repaint biggrin.gif
Thunderclash
The moustachio'd one (ie. Scourge tongue.gif ) is one of my favourites, albeit with one small objection. The robot design is very neatly done and very true to the G1 Scourge, but whereas the original was a total brick, this one is destined to be a poser with all that articulation. The stealth bomber plane mode is very clean and dynamic when seen from above. I hope the undercarriage isn't cluttered with visible body parts. The only objection I have is the choice of colour; okay, Scourge was always blue and white, but a stealth bomber in those colours? Nah, not gonna fly... (pun intended tongue.gif ).
PS! I can't resist making a joke on G2 Optimus Prime's expense. It's probably just me, but I think that sword of his looks a bit out of proportion with his body. Is "someone" compensating for something biggrin.gif ?
Protek
Windcharger seems to be pretty much sold out, when it comes to single figure preorders.
Tformer
BBTS just updated their listings with pictures of the two new Ehobby TF United sets.

Transformers United Autobot Three-Pack E-Hobby Exclusive
Transformers United Decepticon Three-Pack E-Hobby Exclusive

Both sets are nice homages to the 86 movie. Though I'm not particularly feeling the clear Hot Rod as he didn't turn that blue when he became Rodimus. I bet he look pretty nice with a light behind him though.
And I can't help but to wonder. Why not Wreck-Gar instead of Scrap Heap the generic Junkion? It would make far more sense to me.

That Decepticon set is gorgeous though! I was hoping they'd do a reformatting theme for that one. I'm usually not a fan of clear figures but I might just have to get my first Ehobby exclusives next year, as long as my economy allows for it. biggrin.gif
Smokescreen
According to BBTS there's a Generations Thundercracker coming. Botcon fans start raging... now.

Me, I'm warming up to the G2 Optimus after some hands-on pictures. It might make for an awesome Star Saber repaint.

Now Jazz, Tracks. Grapple and Thunderwing have been released, and it seems we'll get Wheeljack, Perceptor, Scourge, Kup and the Scouts before long. Good thing I just got a raise. biggrin.gif

Yes, and selling BC Thundie for bargain prices, since I need that release for my Classics collection! tongue.gif

Still not completely sold on the mold - especially not as the G2 Prime character. But it could work great as a plethora of other kitbashed characters (Star Saber is a gold idea, BTW!).
Smokescreen
Speaking of Generations... since it seems that characters are randomly placed in the pure Generations assortment or in the Reveal the Shield assortment, could we actually get some around here? I mean, there are movie figures in RtS as well and they need to be released... if Hasbro Nordic actually gets to the end of a line for once.
Tformer
I've been thinking that we might at least end up with Jazz and Tracks. They're not that far down the line, just wave three (possibly four. Might've been some repaint wave in between).
Thunderclash
smile.gif I'm incapable of mustering the patience needed to wait for these to appear over here eventually, so I've ordered Generations Thunderwing and Reveal The Shield Turbo Tracks, among others.
