> Rules for the Transformers Market

The NTFA Marketplace is mainly for selling/buying/trading Transformers merchandise, but we do allow some trading of other 80's toys, such as G.I. Joe/Action Force, M.A.S.K., Zoids, Masters of the Universe, etc., as long as the majority of your market posts are for Transformers merchandise.
Please note that the Nordic TransFans Association is not responsible for any deals arranged on the NTFA Forums. Naturally we hope that everyone who deals here is honest, but it is your own responsibility to decide whether a seller/buyer is trustworthy or not.
Trades should be completed in a timely manner, and no trade should take more than 30 days to complete after one of the parts have received their part of the deal. Delays beyond this is considered bad trading.
BAD TRADERS:
Any complaints about NTFA traders should be filed by reporting to a moderator below through the link in the relevant post. The matter will then be investigated to determine whether corrective measures are necessary. After reviewing the facts presented by both sides, and allowing the member an opportunity to explain the situation and/or correct the problem, We will determine whether to dismiss the complaint or to enforce appropriate disciplinary action. During this process, any trading topics the accused party is involved in will be locked, and a warning of investigation will be applied.
Disciplinary action may include getting name, contact information and any known aliases posted to the bad trader list http://www.geocities.com/badntfatraders/, with a summary of why the person is listed there. Bad traders will also be permanently banned from the ntfa and may be reported to the police for any violation of the law.
Accusations or negative debate about someone's trading is not tolerated outside reports to the moderators. This also includes any negative comments about a seller's price.

Hey everyone!

I'm Petsku, a collector from Finland, I'm putting up a game company of my own so I need all the funds I can get, so I've decided to sell my entire collection of Transformers from the 80s.

If only back then there were such Transformers communities as today it would have been the greatest thing ever... I didn't really have many friends that were into collecting them like me, but here, there are of course collections amongst you guys that would absolutely dwarf mine.

But anyway, I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna sell my collection, 150+ G1 Transformers, I gotta, so here we go. Instead of going straight to some place like eBay, I thought I'd first see if there were likeminded people, collectors on actual Transformers forums that would definitely give my collection a good home.

I gotta say, digging these out of their storage (for the past 20+ years) and going through each single one with a magnifying glass to document any possible defects, finding out which weapon belonged to which (some were stored in different little containers), etc, etc. felt like quite an undertaking.

Finally, of course, I took a whole lot of pics. Unfortunately, it seems I can only post 10 pics in one post (maybe because I'm new? But perhaps if you want, I can post more in following posts?). So, I had to choose only a few pics at random.

Here's the first, a super tight groupshot (not much space between each figure, hehe):

I actually don't have a very good idea of what this collection would be worth, I'm still in the process of doing research on places like eBay, but I haven't seen a similar collection for sale even there so all help in pushing me to the right direction would be of course much appreciated!

As a guideline though, for example if a figure is 100% complete and has accessories still attached to sprue and also comes with instructions + tech specs then its price evaluation should probably reflect that.

I mean to do my research and come to some sort of a conclusion regarding a reasonable price for the whole lot in the next few days, and of course will offer a discount if someone really wants to buy a G1 Transformers lot this big.

Otherwise, I would have to sell each one individually and that would of course mean 150+ trips to the post office at worst and a whole lot of additional work and hassle, etc.

About me and my collection:

Back in the day, I bought most of these for display purposes only. I began collecting Transformers early on in 1984, and after a few years went on and I turned 11 or so I realized I still wanted to keep collecting them but no longer wanted to play with them, so many of these were bought and used only for display, some transformed only once.

That's why some of these are still in pristine 9.0+ or even impeccable 9.5 condition. I've gone through every single one of them, inspected them carfefully, and graded them respectively.

When I was a child we traveled all around the world, so these were bought from all over the world, many of course from Finland, but others from countries like Italy, Spain, Greece, Sweden, England, etc. If the precise country of origin of each/certain figure is of importance to the buyer, I can enclose further details if I can remember where they were bought (or the instructions/tech specs are in Spanish for example).

Since I'm the original owner of almost all of these and mainly used them for display, most of these are in truly excellent condition (there are only two or so that I got second hand from a friend as a kid that aren't in that good of a shape).

I've used the following grading system that I found on the net:

C9.5: Figure is in mint condition, without any visible flaws or defects.
C9.0: Figure is in near mint condition with very few minor flaws (barely noticeable unless you search hard).
C8.5: Figure has some very minor areas of wear and may have small flaws.
C8.0: Figure has minor paint/sticker wear, may have minor stains, discoloration, and stress marks but no damage.
C7.5: Figure has some play, paint/sticker wear and may have some stains, discoloration and stress marks.
C7.0: Figure has play wear, moderate paint/sticker wear and may have moderate stains, discoloration, and stress marks. Figure is still collection worthy up to this point.
C6.5: Figure has more play and paint/sticker wear, and may have stains, discoloration, and stress marks. Figure may have a broken part.
C6.0: Figure has heavy play wear, paint/sticker wear and may have heavy stains, discoloration, and stress marks. Figure may have one or more broken/repaired parts.

...not listing anything less than in C6 or better condition so I won't describe conditions worse than that.

Ok, here is everything that's being offered:

Finally, once I had gone through each and every figure, there were still some weapons etc. accessories left over

Any and all help in identifying the weapons in the pic below would of course be super appreciated!

Thanks guys,
Petsku

Hi Petsku!

Thank you for showing us this - this is a marvellous collection, and with so many very very pristine items in it, it is almost a shame to break it up. smile.gif But I understand where you are coming from in doing this, so all the best of luck to you. smile.gif

A few pointers of advice:

* Usually the Micromasters go as groups of 4, as they were released. When you have all 4 of a given group, it's easier to sell them as that group. Just my oppinion. smile.gif
* The same goes for the clones sets.
* That Jetfire you note as "Spanish": I'd love to see more pictures of that. Which aspect is spanish - the instructions or the country where you bought him?
* If you need to identify parts, I can recommend this site here. smile.gif From the last pic though, I can off-hand ID 2 Italian safety missiles (upper left corner) and some Technobot weapons (the other light and dark orange weapons).

Good luck smile.gif

Parts identified! You're welcome! thumbs.gif

(If anyone sees any mistakes, plz feel free to point them out!!)

Quite a collection! I might be interested in a few thing, like Sludge's missile launcher, Triple changers and that dinobot, snarl? Prize?

I'm also looking for Piranacon accessories, fists, guns and Overbite, but I suppose you want to sell him complete? Maybe if you have extras?

\o/ Thank you so much, Fighbird!!

What a tremendous well of knowledge a place like this can be, you guys were able to identify some parts right off the bat!

Can you extrapolate further what figure the two Italian safety missiles might belong to?

Fighbird, I bought my Jetfire from Spain and his instructions are multi lingual, four different languages, I bet one of the languages is Spanish.

Here's a photo I took of him:

Thanks so much!

Thanks NRJohn!!

I can't thank you enough for going through the trouble of identifying and marking the parts for me. That is just insanely kind of you. If only a place like this would have existed when I was a kid and super into Transformers, I would have seriously geeked out.

Regarding the misc parts lot - I will probably sell the parts that will be left over once I'm done identifying them. You guys have already helped me out so I could put some of them back on their master's hands (robot fists). I had accidentally misplaced some of 'em after first carefully matching them up, so now they're safe with who they belong. I've updated the list accordingly (for example, I had earlier listed Horri-Bull as "90% complete, missing gun", but now he's back to 100% smile.gif So, seriously, a big thank you to everyone.

It's starting to look like once I know what all this is worth so I can put a price tag to it, I might possibly attempt some sort of mega huge big bundle eBay sale for everything in a bundle (and of course with a great big discount). But if it doesn't sell (and I wouldn't be surprised if it wouldn't), then sure, I will have to start selling each figure separately.

NRJohn - regarding Piranacon and the Seacons, yeah, I would really like to try and sell at least each combiner as their own group together. I'm sorry but I don't have any extras... The only "extras" I really have of anything seem to be the three copies of "Bombshell" the Insecticon (listed).

Finally, you probably identified all the other parts correctly but the one little black gun in the pic you said belonged to Scrapper (of the Constructicons) doesn't seem to be so - here's a closer look at that gun, see if you can identify it:

Thanks again for all the help guys, I can't thank you enough. I will be updating with pricing info in the near future when my research is complete.

Best Regards,
Petsku

Can you extrapolate further what figure the two Italian safety missiles might belong to?

Phew, that's a tough one. In theory, it could be any of the "old" Autobot cars and/or Ultra Magnus. But all seem to have their original missiles as well (which would be missing in the package if the safety ones were included). Also, they seem to be different - the "stems" are different lenghts. My best advice is to tru each missile in all the different Autobots you have (and maybe the Decepticon jets as well? Can't remember if they even were available in Italy) and see if you can find a good fit. Otherwise, I'm sure they can be sold individually.

Fighbird, I bought my Jetfire from Spain and his instructions are multi lingual, four different languages, I bet one of the languages is Spanish.

Well, he's not spanish, but one of the languages is spanish. I can see german, french, dutch and spanish on the instructions. Your Jetfire is in reality from Europe, produced and sold in many parts of Europe, including Scandinavia. If you had his tech specs still you would see that his function in the Netherlands was "Leader" - i.e., he was the Autobot commander instead of Prime. smile.gif Crazy stuff! smile.gif

\o/ Again you with your eagle eye vision, and the ability to spot and identify any and all Transformer accessories in 0.1138 seconds! smile.gif

I remember selling Metroplex way back, he was a big figure, and such a small gun, maybe the gun belongs to his little pal Scamper?

Thanks again!

Fighbird, I seem to remember buying some Dinobots from Italy, you think there's any chance those safety missiles belong to them?

Ok, so my Jetfire is sort of not Spanish after all (but I could swear I once heard him say "Autobots Senores, Transformar Por favor!"). But, I might still list him as "bought from Spain", whether it's of much relevance to the buyer, dunno (but thought it'd be nice to mention some of the countries they were bought from).

Update on the collection sale as a whole: I will soon be done with my price evaluation research and will probably be listing the whole collection on eBay first, we'll see if it doesn't sell (and I of course wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't) then I will have to start selling the figures individually.

I have already received requests from members here for the following for example: Devastator (2 requests), some of the Decepticon Headmasters and Targetmasters, etc.

Ok, I'll keep everyone posted, thanks again for all your help, interests and comments!!

Cheers,
Petsku

Oh yeah - definitely! Forgot about the Dinos. smile.gif

It's a nice piece of extra information on the toy itself, definitely! smile.gif But I think it would attract more buyers if you listed him as "MB version, bought from Spain". smile.gif

Outstanding collection, congratulations!

The Jetfire I believe comes from a Milton Bradley box, MB Transformers are known to have been sold in Spain. The instructions show German first, which is usually a sign of Milton Bradley packaging. When French is shown first (as with your Insecticons) they are Ceji-manufactured Hasbro Europe items, just after Milton Bradley. When English is the first language, I believe that's standard Hasbro Bradley Takara manufactured non-Milton Bradley packaging.

If you do not find anyone to buy your whole collection, I would very much love to buy all of your Insecticons + techs + paerwork for those Insects smile.gif

Please let me know if that should ever be a possibility smile.gif

All the best
Maz

Hey Maz!

What a wealth of knowledge this place has, I'm floored. I've also posted my collection on one other TF forum but I have to say here's where I posted first and people here just seem to be super kind, and willing to share their knowledge, actually helping me with my sale. I am so grateful and honestly can't thank you enough.

So Maz - of course that's a possibility! Just when I thought I was done with my research (like evaluating everything in the collection etc. so I can put a price tag on it all) when you had to post this new information for me smile.gif

So I just went ahead and quickly did a little further research into both MB (Milton Bradley) and the French Ceji manufactured variants with Google, and checked through a few of the figures in the collection, and sure enough, Jetifire is the Milton Bradley variant, and so far I've identified the following to be the French Ceji variants:

Devastator - genuine G1 Ceji variants from 1986 (not the later G2 yellow variants), identified by Japan-blocked copyright imprints, instructions that say "Made and printed in France by Ceji, under license from Takara Co., Ltd.", as well as the precise Ceji shade of yellow that's slightly different from the later G2 yellow coloring, etc. + Instructions, Constructicons:
- Bonecrusher, 100% Complete + Techspecs. C9.0 Condition (Near Mint).
- Hook, 100% Complete. C9.0 Condition (Near Mint).
- Long Haul, 100% Complete. Figure itself C9.0 condition (Near Mint), but the Devastator connector part has slight traces of a black marker pen having been used on it (on the small yellow pieces).
- Mixmaster, 100% Complete. C9.0 Condition (Near Mint)
- Scavenger, 90% complete (gun missing). C9.0 Condition (Near Mint).
- Scrapper, 90% complete (gun missing). C9.0 Condition (Near Mint).

Insecticons - all these are the Ceji variants, identified by the orange (not yellow) chest plates and the Japan-blocked copyright imprints behind them
- Bombshell, 100% Complete + Techspecs. C8.5 Condition (Minor wear).
- Bombshell, 100% Complete. C8.5 Condition (Minor wear).
- Bombshell, 90% complete (gun missing). C8.0 Condition (Minor wear).
- Kickback, 100% Complete + Instructions. C8.0+ Condition (Minor wear).
- Shrapnel, 100% Complete + Instructions. C7.0 Condition (Tight joints, but some paint wear).

Seekers - Ceji variants, identified by the hard plastic nosecones (instead of rubber), plastic black wheels (instead of die cast), and the Japan-blocked copyright imprints in the legs
- Dirge, 100% Complete + Instructions + Techspecs. C9.5 Condition (Mint).
- Ramjet, 100% Complete + Instructions + Techspecs. C6.0 condition (right leg and black parts on wings have been glued back on).
- Starscream, 100% Complete + Instructions + Techspecs. C9.0 Condition (Minor sticker wear).

...it looks like I might have to do even more research if I want to be as informative and precise as possible in my listing of the entire collection, currently I don't even really know whether the MB or Ceji origin of some of these matters or affects the value potential buyers might place on any of these, but I of course want to share all the possible variant information I can.

This is the MB article I read, written in 2010 - the part that of course stood out for me said that year a MB Jetfire sold for 600 euros on eBay (but I of course have no idea if it was loose/boxed, etc. and as it is am probably not gonna place any value on mine for being the MB variant, will probably just mention it is but list its estimated value as $150 *tops*, due to the fact that I noticed it's got some discoloration/yellowing on its chest plate):

This is the Ceji article I read (funny coincidence - it was written today!):

Thanks again guys, I can't thank you enough,
Petsku

Hehe did you go right to the bottom of that article to see who wrote it? ;)

If and when you do decide to sell your Ceji variant Constructicons, Insecticons and now Dirge, Starscream and Ramjet, again, I'd gladly be first in line for those smile.gif

All the best
