I know that there are many collectors@NTFA with great collections that earn my (and everybodys) respect, but maybe there are those too who don't have all the toys they wanted. biggrin.gif

So is there some figures (or other TF stuff) that you've always wanted, but for some reason (price, availability etc.) haven't got (yet...) and it's not expected that you'll get them soon? :/

You can also tell memories about your hunt for something and the feelings that came when you finally get that thing. biggrin.gif

I've dreamed my entire time as a "collector" about Masterpieces and I'll finally get my childhood hero, Optimus Prime as a Masterpiece next year! He'll be released again as a "Final Edition". It's not even insanely expensive with pre order price at Kapow Toys. smile.gif

But RiD Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus (or Fire Convoy & God Magnus as a Car Robots versions) are possbily the figures I want most. Omega Prime looks damn gorgeous, IMO. And RiD Prime is very well designed and it's super mode beats Unicron Trilogy super modes easily. And like I said, Omega Prime looks awesome and alongside it Jet Optimus from Armada looks like a joke. Well, not like a joke, but you got the point.

I immediately come to think about one very specific toy that it's very likely that I'll never own. I might be setting my goals a bit high. blush2.gif

Ever since I was a kid, G2 Dreadwing and Smokescreen has been one of my favourite sets of all time, so when I became a collector I decided to try and get every variation of that mold. I currently have a misb Euro G2, a loose G2 set, the korean BWII Starscream and BB and the Robot Masters repaints.

While I could settle for just owning every repaint and not focus too much on packaging variants like the US G2, Japanese G2, Takara BWII etc. For my collection to be truly complete, I'd need to get the G2 repaint, ATB Megatron and Starscream. Which of course were never released and only a few produced samples exist.

I've seen the set for sale one or two times over the past few years. But since they're unreleased toys they went for a lot more then I could spend at the time. Oh well. Maybe one day. smile.gif

I would like to own one of the Animated season 4 toys that never made it into production as I'm crazy about Animated toys, hehe smile.gif A few toys made it as far as resin prototypes, like Hot Shot and Triplechanger Megatron. It would be great to have one of those prototypes!

oy.. erhm.. were to start.. unsure.gif
well.. there is plenty of bots, what i would like to get.. i'm still currently missing some bots in Classic/Universe line. i would be awesomenely happy, if i would get the missing ones in Alternators/Binaltech lines.. or MP Grimlock.. love.gif

my BW/BM collection have been growing steadily at times, but no "new" bot's in there about three months now.. i have been skipping the latest movie line, just because of the repaints in it.. hmmm.gif (but if the budget situation would be better, i still might be buying even those wink2.gif )

there is not just one, what i would like to get (even tough, the Fortress Maximus is still in my list) there is plenty and new ones are coming.. bounce1.gif w00t.gif

Hi,

First message on this forum! Been a member for 2 years, but no posts... So I might as well introduce myself by telling a bit about my collection!

I'm mainly a G1 addict, but also very into Animated stuff and getting into the whole Armada/Energon bots.. All things transformers are welcome! biggrin.gif

Loved the original tv-shows to death when I was a kid, and I wanted ALL the bots. But like most kids around here I had like 10-15 bots, so nowhere close... So around '97 I decided to round up some used toys from my friends and from there it took off. I'm close to completing G1 (after which I will focus on armada).

But in answer to Inkku's question, I would say that the combiners are about the sweetest things I have acquired during my adult collector years. I was so frustrated as a kid that I could have, say two or three of the smaller combiners from a team, but never a team leader. I remember staring for hours at the catalogs and wondering how the gestalts would look like in real life.

The first one I completed was Devastator (in '98) and man was I happy! drool2.gif Even my mom remembered how much I liked that character! It took me a few years until I got the courage to buy stuff online, so things were moving real slow, but I managed to scrape together a motormaster with combiner parts and got back my old wildrider and dead end. Still, three stunticons do not make a menasor... So in '02 I decided to look into ebay and my world changed...

So always wanting combiners (and thinking I would never get them tongue.gif) really made me want to get serious about collecting. Little did I know back then about masterforce and victory...

Well, that's my first post. Looking forward to joining in your conversations in 2011 and a Happy New Year to everyone!

Well, as one of the "ancient" TF collectors on this forum, I've had time to think this through a number of times. I once set myself the bold goal of acquiring every Transformers collectible ("toy") there is, but in later years I've had to accept the fact that this will never happen due to the extreme cost (we Transformers fans are seriously being taken advantage of...), lack of space and of course the inevitable aging process. Mine, that is wink2.gif . I've had some very good years both pre- and post movie toys and I will never walk away from even a single repaint (unless it's got an outrageous price tag), but I have to admit I've neglected the G1 section of the collection. There are large holes in that part of the collection and while some of the major characters are present (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Fort Max, Scorponok etc.), there are lots of others that I would have loved to see as part of the collection (Ultra Magnus with rubber wheels, a Shockwave replacement, Abominus, a still milky white Prowl etc.), but are for the most part cost-prohibitive when MIB/MOC, in my opinion. Of course it's still possible to go after these, but when you have other and much more important expenses to consider (house mortgage, other loans, the usual monthly stack of bills etc.), this hampers the ability to hunt down the most precious and sought-after collectibles (AKA "toys"). That said, it would have been great to replace the currently loose specimens with MIB ones (I still regret listening to my mother before moving to a new house in 1989, throwing away and burning all my Transformers' original boxes and inserts because of lack of space), but that will probably remain a distant dream, better yet, a fantasy (or nightmare, depending on how much beating the wallet can take tongue.gif ). In the mean time, I'm still enjoying being a collector and 2011 will be my 24th consecutive year, albeit with some more or less dormant years in-between. Hopefully 2011 can be another great year and if I'm fortunate enough I could perhaps manage to expand that G1 section. There's always hope smile.gif .

I've realized that most characters I want are getting much improved upgrades, so my regular G1 collecting has pretty much ground to a halt. In fact, I might even sell figures like Perceptor, Jazz and Inferno. I want to get Fort Max some day as we'll never get another similarly sized toy, and I'd like a Shockwave since it seems Hasbro never wants to do a proper remake of him, but apart from that I'm pretty much done. I now have the combiners I wanted: Defensor, Computron, Bruticus, Abominus, Piranacon and Predaking. Predaking in particular was awesome to finally own, first as a near complete original and then as the first reissue.

A part of me wants to get a few of the japanese things but I have told myself that besides from Battle Gaea (that I have) I aint touching that line. When it comes to the G1 line that is the only line I really collect I want to try and finish it this year. This means MOC up and MIB up about 30 items. Also miss about 7 repaints I need to track down. I thingk within 2 years I am owning all of the G1 I want except for two hard items, TM Scourge and MOC Bumblejumper

I do however always wanted a GIg bruticus giftset but it is expensiv.... that is my last true grail.

I started collecting transformers somewhere between the 07 movie and rotf, so I haven’t truly longed for any figure as such. But on the other hand, being such a new collector there are figures that I wanted but never ever thought I would get my hands on. I am still looking for the G1 dinobots for instance.
I never though I’d get a G1 Prime but the feeling when randomly I did…OMG that was overwhelming! The moment I opened the package…WOW! I’ve been lucky in getting 2 more of my most desired figures: BW transmetal Blackarachnia and BW Neo Big Convoy (without getting ruined in the process).
Right now, the figure I want more then any other is RID Scourge! I had a chance to buy it once…but I didn’t, and I regret that SO much!

Actully, I don't think there is 1 item in particular I could list... A few years back, I would have said "BlackDiaclone Tracks", but that became moot last year. Maybe one of the chromes lucky draw toys from Japan, but those are hellish expensive no matter what.

Currenly, I'm mostly into completing my G1 collection and MIB/MOC-ing up all 1988 toys as well. Add to that Animated (curse you, Pete!) and CHUG toys, and that is my primary obejctives for now. We'll see how long that lasts... wink2.gif
