I have posted a video for the first day at NordCon 2010 on Youtube.
The second video covering the last day will be up later today.

NordCon 2010 was GREAT! bounce1.gif

Great reviews, Seaspray, and many thanks for the praise!

I have to say that NordCon 2010 was a great experience. There are two main reasons here: Firstly, it gave me a chance to meet about twenty NTFA members all at the same time, including Finns, Swedes, and Danes. (No Norwegians or Icelanders turned up.) It was really great to meet both other Finns and members outside Finland at the same time. Secondly, it gave me a chance to meet Simon Furman! I had met him once before, at BotCon Europe 2002 (the only BotCon Europe ever in the history of mankind), together with Lars and Dutch Transfan Marco van Leeuwen. But this was much better. It went far beyond simply meeting Furman - we were able to have casual conversations with him, and at one point, I actually forgot he was a Transformers celebrity and felt he was just like one of us. It's a pity so few of us Finns could afford to come to NordCon 2010, but I understand it can't be helped if their situations can't allow for it. Now I have two HeadRobots toys (one in NordCon exclusive colours, one in regular colours), a copy of the Transformers: Generation 2 hardback comics collection signed by Simon Furman, and about two hundred photographs to remember NordCon 2010.

So... no one made any pictures that we all can see at? I didn't have a camera, so I'm kinda hungry for some imagery! tongue.gif

There are quite a few on the Facebook page, but naturally we would like to see them here as well - the Facebook page should not replace either the board or the website. I should have a bit more than a dozen pictures myself, most of them from the setup on Friday, but I'm still too tired (from my cold) to look into uploading them... sad.gif

Good work. And it seems the NordCon photo gallery is actually public. So check out the link, anyone who wants to see the current selection of photos. (We will need to tag them and describe them eventually.)

Okay, it seems I'm going to have to be painfully straightforward here. It's 11 days since NordCon, and we still haven't seen any written reviews or images. How the heck will we be able to convince more people to come to a hypothetical NordCon 2011 when no one can be bothered to tell the others how good the 2010 edition was? A convention doesn't sell itself, people. The word of mouth is incredibly important, but we're not getting much hype at all!

On a little different topic: I talked to a lot of Swedes who told me about a swedish comedy show that poked fun at us danes and our love of "wienerbrød"? smile.gif

Anyone so kind as to direct me to some YouTube videos of those guys if they exist? smile.gif

Oh crap. Do we need to publish the link in a public space now? Okay, here goes...
From a children/young teens programme called Solstollarna, broadcasted in 1985. This is a collage of a number of sequences featuring the notorious smuggler Skumberg, who visited Denmark regularly to procure Danish pastries with chocolate in the middle, and then smuggle them back to Sweden. This clip shows two of the visits in the Danish pastry shop as well as a few other attempts to communicate with the unintelligible Danes, so you get multiple samples of these people's interpretation of Danish.
The only(?) thing missing from this clip is a sample of the two ladies in the pastry shop charging Skumberg for the Danish pastries, which would have given us an example of how the Danes count. But I'm guessing that they didn't think of including that until the second series, two years later.

While we're at it, I guess it's just as well that I give you some links to the other eighties comedy (this one for the whole family), Nöjesmassakern (1985-86), which among many other things featured parodies on cooking programmes. One of these involved Preben and Preben, two Danish bakers with a penchant for drinking while they're working. They were alternating with other duos in the show, like the German chefs Werner und Werner and the American bartenders Johnny and Johnny (all played by the same two guys). There were also ideas to introduce other cooking duos like the two Greek chefs Zorba and Zorba, but both Preben and Preben and Werner und Werner became so popular that the creators chose to write more skits with these duos instead.

HA! Priceless - especially Preben og Preben! biggrin.gif

Their danish is actually pretty good - I can understand more of what they are saying in "mock-danish" than what I would if they spoke regular swedish.

Thanks for the link and the info! smile.gif
