I decided to do a major kitbash project, that will likely take a loooooong time to finish. I'm making a five 'bot combiner named Blitzwing, from a KO Silverbolt, two GoBots, Combaticon Swindle, and an Aerialbot. In this thread I will post pictures and updates as the work progresses, and to keep interest up (if there is any wink2.gif).

The characters are:

Leader: Hammerwing
Origin: Decepticon infiltrator

Left arm: Steamquake
Origin: Decepticon heavy assault

Right arm: Electroblast
Origin: Autobot transport

Left leg: Nitroburst
Origin: Autobot artillery

Right leg: Rumblewing
Origin: Decepticon

Here's the background story:

An Autobot transport (Electroblast + Nitroburst) is en route for Earth when they are intercepted by a Decepticon strike force (Hammerwing, Steamquake, Rumblewing). After a fierce battle, they all crash on a secluded planet, where a powerful magnetic field disrupts their circuitry and wipes their memory chips clean. Stranded on an alien planet, not knowing who they belong to, they quickly realise that team-work is necessary for their very survival. They team up as one, and learn the secret of combining to gain the power necessary to escape the alien planet. Together they form Blitzblade, a fierce and fast warrior, loyal to no one except for himself.

To allow more time for planning this project, I've started with the combiner parts. I've made two combiner pieces for the GoBots so they can connect to the main body (KO Silverbolt) from a pair of spare Predator Stalker missiles. Haven't taken any pics of them yet, but they're still very rough so it would probably just be embarrasing smile.gif

Yesterday I remade the chest shield that belongs to Silverbolt. I cut off the missiles from the wing tips and made larger wings from thick styrene which I then added. I re-attached the missiles on those and added the antennae from Silverbolt's Superion head to make them into laser cannons. Then I added a tailfin and some tyrene tubing, and that part of the bash was complete. I've now made a scout drone that separates from the main body to search for enemy forces. There is a fairly high amount of detail on that chest piece, so it'll look pretty slick once I've painted it. Nevermind the rough edges, gaps, etc. as they will be removed with either putty and/or a thicker paint app. Also, don't expect too much since this is my first bigger project, hehe smile.gif

Chest piece / Scout drone:

After that I started working on the KO Superion head. I cut of the antennae (as written above) and sanded down the sides. I filled the gaps with styrene, added some tubing on top of the head to differ it some more from Superion, and I'm now working on a mouthplate. It's not completed yet, so this next pic is with a very rough mouthplate:

Comments, remarks, and input are as always most welcome!

Haha, I don't know smile.gif They're actually KO Gobots. One is a space shuttle, and the other one is some sort of construction vehicle.

Looking forward to see the final product happy.gif

Have you decided on a colorscheme for the lot yet? How will you arrange with insignias (if you`re using any) - do you mark 2 as Autobots and the other 3 as Decepticons? Cool idea with the outcast/lost in space theme too!

haha, no... I have no idea what so ever on how I will paint these guys. The scout drone will be black with blue cockpit. The combiner head will also stay black, but with blue eyes and grey mouthplate and some added details. I might try removing the visor and making eyes, but that's unlikely, hehe smile.gif

here's a mock-up of the combiner. The new chest piece is attached, and the custom combiner parts holding the non-TFs are in place. I haven't done any bashing to the actual characters yet, but this will give you a basic idea of how it will look. Still missing the Aerialbot needed for the right leg, since one of the cats ruined the one I had...

Never mind the blue paint. I just used it to fill in some gaps, hehe smile.gif

Ok, first combiner limb completed:

Autobot Nitrobuster (Swindle repaint)

Basically more or less a straight repaint of combaticon Swindle. I just filled in a little more details that were in the mold, and added some tail lights using styrene. Very simple, but I think it looks pretty good. The paint is thin enough so I didn't have to sand anything down. He transforms perfectly without scraping paint off. I washed him pretty roughly on purpose to get that gritty, filthy look of an offroad vehicle. I made the wear on the seats by simply wiping and smudging some of the black paint. The blue paint used for the windshield looks much better in real life, but it was a crappy color. I used on the second combiner limb, but it was impossible to get it even so it looks like crap. Have to remake almost everything on the second figure... Also, the inside of his hands are silver as well, but the original paint shows through because of the flash in the camera.

Damn!!!!! I HATE kids with fireworks! I was doing some finishing touches on my scout drone plane last night, and started cleaning my brushes with acetone as I normally do, when all of a sudden some kids decided to fire up one of those big firework bombs just outside my livingroom window... It scared the crap out of me, and naturally I dropped the acetone bottle on the table! Result: The table is ruined, and so is the scout drone.... Got acetone on the entire right side of the drone so the plastic started melting. Gah! Now, where on Earth will I find another KO Silverbolt chestpiece, 75% the size of the original?!

Isn't that illegal ?
It is in DK and you can police report people for doing it if they don't have a police permission.

Nevertheless it sux... acetone really eats plastic.
