I just did a search for Transformers on www.eurotoys.dk and learned that they have this brand new set in stock!

I was certain that this set would be an Asian and Canada exclusive?
Well looks like they're going retail with this set for Scandinavia!

The asked price is as following; 40,26EURO, 299,95DKK, 374,94SEK or 239,96NOK ¨

I bought from eurotoys a couple of years ago, and I didnt have any problems with them at that time.

That's going to be really tempting if I see one in stores. I'm not that into the "allspark stripes" Bumblebee or "Not-quite-so-dark Energon" Starscream. But those M.E.C.H figurines look pretty nice, even better after the last two episodes.

Actually upon closer examination i deduced that regardless of blue stripes this Bumblebee is the one closer to show-accuracy due to the silver face.

Why are the two big Swedish toy store chains so crap? Toys R Us and BR toys both have REALLY shitty selection and insane prices.

Things have sadly always been expensive in the Nordic countries. The best selection will always be at TRU, since BR is a subsidiary of TRU (at least here in Nordic; both are owned and operated by Top-Toy here in Denmark).

Transformers aren't that popular in the toy stores at the moment, so retailers don't order that much product, hence the high prices. TRU are the only ones with warehouse capacity to hold large orders, so they can have more and slightly cheaper.

The unfortunate truth is, however, that when that company bought out the previous big chain (Stor & Liten) and began buying out other smaller toystores, the availability of toys in Sweden plummeted. These days, BR is pretty much ALL that exists in this country, and they have a uniform (and really dull) choice of toys. Toylines that in the US receive one or two pegs most (Phineas & Ferb, WWE) get a full shelf or even more here, and neither that cartoon or wrestling are even shown on regular Swedish TV!

Also their policies are really weird. BR has had the Prince of Persia action figures around for years since the movie. At one point they clearanced them out for a fraction of their regular price, and I thought that was the end of it. But no, a month later the pegs were refilled with Prince of Persia figures again... at FULL price! At least in the US they know not to waste peg space on years-old movie tie-in toylines. If anyone wanted these figures they would have bought them when the movie first came out or when they were clearanced off the first time, not at full price AFTERWARDS.

And this happens all the time with them, it's really weird.

Yeah last time i entered one of those stores the best TF stuff was SWTF since that was all they had.
I also remember the time i went into one selling ROTF Deluxe Ravage who was old even then for the price 349 SEK which was 100 SEK more then Sea attack Ravage.

Top-Toy sadly rules the toy market, and they have no clues about other properties than their own (yes, they produced toys themselves as well).

I know Hasbro Nordic has been pushing for more and more current TFs (and Joes, MLPs etc. etc.) like forever, but Top-Toy just don't want to nor cannot understand the need for current toys and popular brands. But then again, they (Top-Toy nor Hasbro) can't do much about the pricing which is based on logistics, high oil prices, high import taxes, storage expenses etc., so I doubt that the prices would ever be reasonable here.

True, we shouldn't really compare with US prices because the US doesn't have the same fees and taxes and all that, but still: It's mostly cheaper for us fans to import the toys from abroad ourselves.
