Before you all chime in saying you want all the Scramble City gestalts and the Head- and Targetmasters and the Pretenders and the hey hey hey, remember that they're not going to be made like you remember them, but as different characters, with far fewer characters, with only the name and the basic idea of the personality matching the originals.

True -- hence my suggestion of the Constructicons; just the image of giant construction vehicles wrecking havok on a city, transforming and then even uniting... drool2.gif

Haha, yeah... Can't get any more basic than that! wink2.gif

Maybe not yet in the next movie, but I'd really like to see Unicron on the big screen someday. As an opposite of Allspark or something.

Doubt it.

Seriously, the bigger they get, the more difficult it is to make them look credible - seriously, how can you make a planet-sized robot look convincing in live-action?

The answer is, you can't. Unless they do the same thing they did with Galactus and turn him into something entirely different, I doubt we're gonna see Unicron in the live action movie/s. Besides, Unicron is a kind of overused plot element by now.

How can you be so sure of that? Have we ever seen anything done on that scale?

No, but I'm being realistic.

Besides, do you have any idea how much it would cost to render such a beast?

I don't think that would be the issue as such because a when the rendered model is done with texture (EMBM/EBM) etc, it's mostly lighting & shadows.
In the (lame) movie The Perfect Storm the ocean was all rendered along with the boat + helicopter in one scene and that may have been more challenging to get an algorithm right for water effect for every single water-flush etc, and to make it look believeable.
Also with a Unicron in hand would pose a problem, getting him to fit on the screen, and then LoD (level of detail) will vary a lot depending on distance, so to a full scale model to be shown, it's likely a lowpolygon model would be used for scenes farther away, where as for close ups they'd make indvidual segments of him to be used. Using a superhigh detailed model for all scenes where you can't see the detail anyway would be a waste of resources.
