As a kid, I had this yellow toy car that was about twice the size of your usual hot wheels car; it was made of plastic and it popped open like a drag racer, housing a small and slightly articulated action figure in the single seat.

The car kind of looked like something out of a Mad Max movie, with bits of armour covering it, and sported a big cannon on top that fired a red missile, and there was a "launcher" included as well that would shoot the car across the floor, though it wasn't as fancy as you'd expect, it pretty much just gave the car a good shove, there was no track or anything.

Any idea? Pretty much the only component I can recall to any detail is the launcher which was basically just a small grey box with a handle, and the handle was the one that popped out to push the car.

This must've been the early 90's or something because I have no recollection of such toyline.

I remember them. I didn't remember them at first, but looking at the website refreshed my memory. There was even a really large robot capable of carrying several vehicles, it was called "Cargantua". (Misspelling intentional, to put "car" in there.)

YES! That's the one! I had the yellow porsche! I wasn't sure but now I know for sure. biggrin.gif

Now, there was ANOTHER toyline that I've been trying to figure out; it consisted of microman-sized pilots and vehicles that you had to assemble yourself, and the only parts I remember are the treads and the drillbit, and I understand that if you owned more than one, you could combine parts from the two to form different vehicles.

Any idea?

I remember that one too. My cousin used to have some of those toys. But I can't remember the name.

Sorry, I remembered wrong. Cargantua was a Matchbox, not a Hot Wheels toy.

Well there are Zoids as well as a kind of spinoff/knockoff line called "Multimac" both with chromed little pilots.

Some parts have the same pegs and ports as tf's so they are good for customs!

Those are still not the toyline I remembered. I have asked at Wikipedia, but so far to no avail. I never had any toys of the toyline I'm thinking of, but my cousin did. Unfortunately, he must have forgot all about it decades ago. (It was he who originally introduced me to Transformers - but he must have given it up also decades ago.)

It could've been knockoffs. I definitely had the one in the middle but it was in totally different colours.
