I started a separate topic for the more practical sides of the Mini-Con. I'll start with a couple of different means to get to the Mini-Con.

Different ways to get to the NTFA Mini-Con in Arlöv

NOTE: Prices change and go up the closer we get to the convention. All prices here were checked on August 11th.

From Sweden (Göteborg, Stockholm):

By train:

From Stockholm

X2000 Sthlm - Malmö, leaves on Saturday November 3 at 06:20, arrives at 10:46. Price: 95 (!) SEK (Just nu 2 Klass*)
X2000 Sthlm - Malmö, leaves on Saturday November 3 at 08:20, arrives at 12:46. Price: 95 (!) SEK (Just nu 2 Klass*)

From Göteborg

X2000 Göteborg - Malmö, leaves on Saturday November 3 at 09:55, arrives at 12:42. Price: 95 (!) SEK (Just nu 2 Klass*)

*) Be sure to buy your tickets as soon as possible. Due to the ticket's nature, the price rises the closer you get to the actual date!

By bus:

From Stockholm:

Swebus Express Sthlm - Malmö. Leaves on Friday November 2 at 22:50. Arrives in Malmö at 08:15. Price: 462 SEK.

From Göteborg:

Swebuss Express Göteborg - Malmö. Leaves on Saturday morning, November 3 at 07:50. Arrives in Malmö 11:30. Price: 218 SEK.

From Denmark (København):

By train:

København H - Malmö, Öresundståget, Saturday November 3. Three departures every hour. Price: 85 SEK (I think).

By bus:

Bus 999, Lufthavnen Kastrup - Malmö Södervärn, Saturday November 3. Leaves at 10:50, arrives at 12:15. Price: 60 DKK

From Norway (Oslo):

By bus:

Swebus Express Oslo - Malmö. Leaves at 22:50 on Friday November 2, arrives in Malmö at 06:20. Price: 358 SEK.

By train:

Oslo S - Malmö C, Friday November 2, leaves at 07:27, arrives at 16:46. Price: 648 SEK

Since I don't have any knowledge regarding Finnish, any Finnish members, please feel free to post similar information for the Finnish fans! smile.gif

NOTE: All of the buses and trains listed here can be found at http://www.sj.se and http://www.swebusexpress.se, and you can of course buy your tickets there as well smile.gif Öresundståget and Bus 999 don't require any pre-booking/purchase.

Getting from Malmö to Arlöv:

If you come to Malmö by train or one of the Swebus Express buses, I would suggest going to Arlöv with Pågatågen, the commuter trains, since they're the closest to both Malmö C and the bus stop (Svävarterminalen) Unfortunately, the autumn schedule isn't released yet, so I can't check it properly. However, you should get on one of the trains that says "Uppehåll in Burlöv". Otherwise, it will go straight to Lund, which could cause you some distress ;) Burlöv is the first stop the commuter trains make after leaving Malmö. Price from Malmö - Burlöv is 18 SEK.

If you come to Malmö Södervärn with bus 999 from Denmark, you can take either bus 130, 132, or 172. When going with bus 130, get off at the stop called Burlöv Center. When going with bus 132, the stop is called Sockerbitstorget, which also is the furthest away. Bus 172 stops about 250 m from the convention, and about 50 m from where I live smile.gif That stop is called Rapsvägen. Bus tickets are 18 SEK. If you decide to stay at hotel F1 in Malmö, the buses stop about 100 from there. That stop is called Östervärn.

I will post maps later on to make it even easier for you, but this should at least give you a grasp on how to get here smile.gif

From Finland:
Probably the best way is to go to Stockholm by ship. Viking Line ships depart from both Helsinki and Turku daily, from Helsinki once per day (late afternoon), from Turku twice per day (early morning and early evening).
If you come from Helsinki you will miss the cheap X2000 Sthlm train and have to resort to normal trains. If you come from Turku on the evening ship you will have plenty of time to catch the cheap train.

Cabin costs:
Coming from Helsinki, C class cabins cost 96 € and B class cabins cost 124 € each. These are Friday prices, which are much more expensive than the others, but this avoids spending a night in Stockholm.
Coming from Turku on the evening ship, C class cabins cost 50 € and B class cabins cost 80 € each. On the morning ship, C class cabins cost 16 € and B class cabins cost 36 €. Note that the morning ship arrives the same day, so you'll avoid sleeping on board.

Once you are in Stockholm, follow the information BigPete provided.

Flights from Finland
Alternatively, you can take a flight from Finland directly to Malmö. It will be faster but more expensive. The flight takes three to four hours and has to stop in Stockholm along the way. The price from Helsinki is 269 €, from Turku 382 €, from Kuopio 400 €, from Oulu 420 €, and from Rovaniemi 326 €. The last three flights also stop at Helsinki along the way. The prices are for a return trip for one person. The reason Rovaniemi is so cheap is probably because the Helsinki-Rovaniemi route is so busy because of all those ski holiday travellers.

Not necessarily. Viking comes in 9:40, right? Right now there are two trains on Saturday, both of them X2000, at 10:20 and 12:20, which currently don't cost more than 95 SEK (Just nu-price, will rise the closer you get to the 'con).

10:20 may be a bit difficult to catch though; it requires that you'll make it to the bus 9:55-10:10, leaving very little time at the central station - definitely not enough time to go to the ticket counter, so you'd need to purchase your tickets in advance. The train 12:20 leaves you with much more time, but the drawback is that the train won't reach Malmö until 16:46, and then you still have a distance to go before you're in Arlöv.
Even the 10:20 train won't arrive until 14:46, causing you to miss the start of the 'con, so if you're in Helsinki you might want to consider either going via Turku (plenty of time to catch the 8:20), or leaving for Sweden one day earlier.

(You may perhaps want to update/adjust your post, Joona?)

Stockholm-Malmö takes about 6 hours by car. Easiest route would be the E4 or E6, and then change to the E22 when you get to Skåne.

There, I've paid for my trip. 1700 SEK in all, taking the plane down and the train back up. That way I have Friday free to meet some friends in Malmö. However, taking the plane means I can't bring my Alternator Predacons, there's no way I'd put them in a suitcase, knowing how SAS treats stuff.

Luckily I get somewhere to stay for free.

But I will pay for the stay in the hotel for both of us.

Will your mom be attending the Mini-Con as well, or will she be elsewhere while you are there? If she is attending, she needs to pay entrance as well... sad.gif

Ah, okay. smile.gif She would be more than welcome, though, and we don't mind answering a few questions -- as long as we are all enjoying ourselves, then the Mini-Con is a succes for everyone. smile.gif

Oh no -- everyone who wants to attend is welcome! smile.gif As long as they pay... evillaugh.gif wink2.gif (we did spark some interested with some US fans wanting to come because of the TF:Animated premiere, but I doubt they'll actually show up... happy.gif )

Good point... although I know of a few fans in the US, who were G1 fans themselves back in the day, now have children of their own, and having their own kids be transfans. smile.gif A few members on this board have kids themselves also, but AFAIR those kids aren't quite old enough to appreciate Transformers... wink2.gif
