So, i went down a trip down memory lane and had a look at the archive this night to stave off my insomnias worst symptoms, and I wondered how many of the old time big-posters have faded into retirement?

I am actually self-declared retired from TF myself, from 2007 actually, but between 2002 and 2005 I was quite a regular poster hitting the top 10 of Joonas frequent poster statistics from time to time smile.gif Had quite the laugh finding some of the topics we discussed back then, but some "old" members are less than active posters now?

Lots of "old" members have disappeared over the years, and sadly enough, most of them have vanished without even saying goodbye, including several staff members.

I dont quite blame them. My own pensionist goodbye ended up with me having to try to defend not being that much into tf anymore from one or two members, although to their defence I probably made a quite theoretical post smile.gif

I hang to much on TFW but I still come around here but odnt post that much. It is like everything else, ppl start to collect, ppl get kids, get other things in life and dont have time to sitt on the internet debating if Frenzy is blue or red or the new upcomming comic.

I myself are just luckey that I have much of the Tf collection done (9 mib items to go) and the SW and MOTU can also probbaly be done before I am done with my teacher degree in 2 years.

Because once I start working fulltime again its save save save save for house and kids are most likely on the horizon to at that stage and I cant blow that kind of cash on plastic toys then.

I will not stop with the hobby but I will try to be as done as I can before we move into the next phase with house and kids.

Thats what my generation will discover when they turn 65 and try to retire from work as well, since the babyboomers have stolen all the pension funds by retiring at 60 smile.gif But seriously though, of course you cant retire, you're groundsplitter. smile.gif

yes.. i could do that, but because i'm a very close friend with the bad luck, i'll wait untill there is a somewhat a good moment to even think about getting a new laptop.. dry.gif in four months, my *less than two years old* mobile phone broke down in accident, then my laptob broke down, then the coffee maker.. i did sold my car, before it broke down, but i did move in to a new home and the rent is higher than before and it will rise even more nex year, so i'll just have to wait, untill my bad luck will leave me alone for a while.. black_eye.gif

Times change and while this hobby may never die, the focus has shifted to other more important things. Priorities, priorities, priorities. That's what life as an adult is about. You don't have to give up Transformers, but it inevitably gets bumped down the list of things to do. And if your better half does not give your collecting habits approval, well then, I guess it's lights out for that infamous "hobby" of yours wink2.gif . But it seems quite a few of you have managed to find a missus that is quite free-spirited and open-minded about your hobby. Kudos thumbs.gif !

Like mentioned above already, priorities sometimes change. After I became a dad back in March, pretty much all of my spare time is spent with my baby girl. There is still time now and then to peruse the usual shopping places and check out the latest TF news, but I very seldom post anything around here these days.

And it kind of bugs me. smile.gif I have lots and lots of nifty threads I want to do with reviews and kitbash displays and articles and stuff - on top of regular postings and commentaring (is that a word?) - but I'm mostly a lurker these days. OTOH, the free time I do have (usually at night) is spent either 'bashing or talking to Pete and Lars about AAE2012. I have already stated to the missus that I *will* be present, and I do enjoy helping putting these things together, so at least there is time for that. smile.gif

I will never sell off all my TFs altogether. I will however weed out once in a while, and "focus" my collection more and more down the line. I need the space by now (and currently I really need the money), so I may get rid of all things post-G1, basically; my Crap-O-Plenty stores at the NTFA 'Cons are 90% stuff I don't want anymore. tongue.gif

Nope,The G1 collection is not leaving, I however have thought about parting with every reissue I have ( except the exlusiv ehobby stuff/repaints) I dont need all of those since I have such good originals.

Besides I onloy collect G1 US ( no MM, AM nor Pretenders but everything else is go. ) even though I find some of the new stuff very cool and all, There is just this thought in my mind that always keep poping upp ´" it will never end" hence why I only collect G1. I sold off all other stuff during the great purge of 2005.

I've pretty much started to settle down with my collecting during the last couple of years. I'm way down from my peak years and currently have no plans to get any new figures ATM. I've got RTS Wheeljack and Encore Devastator coming from BBTS but after that - don't really know. Logistically, I've reached a saturation and as I don't have currently any place to showcase them, it doesn't really make sense to buy figures to be directly stashed into boxes. Neither DOTM nor Prime does get me excited and can't really think any G1 figures that I'd like to have, well Fort Max of course, but otherwise, I pretty much got the G1 I want.

Do you think the marked could ever crash on TF items?
