I didn't get around to posting it as I have a severe cold (on top of my other health problems) and was too tired to announce it, but I received a comic book shipment on Friday that I finally repackaged and sent out yesterday. The Swedish NTFA Store customers should have received their comics today, and the rest of the customers will receive their books tomorrow or on Thursday.

This shipment contained the start of two new Transformers titles - Robots in Disguise and More Than Meets The Eye. And I think everyone will agree that they are quite different from any books that we have seen before. We're seeing a world in complete disarray: the Autobot/Decepticon war has ended, and the planet itself has sent out a signal to all the Cybertronian refugees across the galaxy that it's safe to return home again. The state of the planet is not what the refugees had expected though, and now the victorious Autobots find that they (and the defeated Decepticons) are an unwanted minority.

This causes the Autobot group to split in two.
In Robots in Disguise we follow Autobot leader Bumblebee and his followers as they try to form a new society in which Autobots and Cybertronians (and Decepticons, although that seems a hopeless goal) can live together. There are several individuals with their own agendas though. Even one of Bumblebee's closest allies has his own ideas of what needs to be done, ideas that he carry out without his leader's knowledge.

And in More Than Meets The Eye we follow Rodimus as he leads an expedition of 210 Transformers in search of the legenday "Knights of Cybertron". So blinded is he by his dreams of fame that he lets pretty much anyone aboard his crew though - as Ultra Magnus describes them, giving the roster a quick glance: "He's dangerous; he's delusional; he's a liar; he's mad (I mean literally mad)..." and so on, and so on. We get to see several of these nutcases in the first issues of both these books.

So, when you have read these books, what are your first impressions? How do you like the new books, are you looking forward to the continuation? Are they better or worse than IDW's earlier Transformers books?

(By the way, if you haven't read them yet - start with MTMTE #1 and read RID #1 afterwards. It will be rather evident that they're meant to be read in that order, but knowing this in advance saves you from reading five pages before you switch books.)
