The NTFA Store is now accepting pre-orders for the July 2012 comics!

July is a very good month for Transformers comic book fans, with several titles of interest. Most notable is of course Regeneration One #81 - Simon Furman's and Andrew Wildman's continuation to the old Marvel Transformers series! Available both as single issues and 5- and 10-issue subscriptions.
Have you secured your free copy of #80.5 yet? If you haven't, there's still time to do so - I'm offering it this month as well. Available as a single copy to all Nordic customers, or as a free bonus when you order the subscription to Regeneration One series regardless of where you live.
Do you need a reminder of what happened in the last issues of the old Marvel series? Then you can order the Regeneration One 100-page spectacular, which reprints Marvel's issues #76-80. Perfect particularly for the Finns, who never got to read the last five issues!

Also worthy of special note in July is the trade paperback Transformers: Autocracy by Chris Metzen and Flint Dille. Previously only available as digital comics, this story - set in Cybertron's past, five million years ago - is now published in printed form for the first time!

And of course the store also offers the continuation of the two ongoing series with More Than Meets The Eye #7 and Transformers: Robots in Disguise #7. There are also two paperbacks: Robots in Disguise, volume 1 which collects issues #1-5 of the series, plus Infestation 2, volume 2 which includes the Transformers and G.I. Joe issues from IDW's recent inter-company crossover.

The G.I. Joe line-up in July is also quite ample, with five comics and three paperbacks in addition to Infestation 2 above. Here we have a new crossover, Danger Girl/G.I. Joe #1, which is the first part in a four-issue mini-series.
The regular titles include G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #180, G.I. Joe #15, Snake-Eyes & Storm Shadow #15 and Cobra #15, and the paperbacks are G.I. Joe: Cobra Command, vol. 2, G.I. Joe Disavowed, volume 6, plus Classic G.I. Joe, volume 15, which concludes the reprints of the original Marvel series.

The last day to pre-order these comics and collections is Tuesday 22 May 2012.

A bit of good news for the NTFA Store customers who are eagerly waiting for Simon Furman's and Andrew Wildman's Regeneration One #80.5!

Up until now I haven't been certain whether we would receive the comic in May or June. It depended on when my supplier would send it out - at the end of April (before Free Comic Book Day on Saturday May 5 when it's actually released) or at the end of May. Normally my supplier sends out the comics at the end of the month that they are released, but I was hoping that the FCBD issues would be a special case (it seems logical that the FCBD comics are printed and sent from the printer quite a bit in advance - FCBD is one case where the publishers/printer can't afford the risk that the delivery to the North American retailers is delayed).

But now I know that the comic will indeed turn up in May.

And not only that - it seems that I will be able to ship it out so that the NTFA Store customers will receive their copies very shortly after the American release! My supplier just informed me that the shipment has been sent out today, and that hopefully means that I should receive the batch towards the end of next week, in which case I will send the issue out during the weekend.


Regular NTFA Store customers will receive this issue automatically. If you're not a regular customer and haven't reserved a copy yet, there's still time to do so. I have quite a few unreserved copies left.

And in that case I will aim to send out the comic to the non-Swedish customers during Thursday, and the Swedish customers during Friday, for delivery on Monday in most of the cases! I read it yesterday, one day too early.
And while there wasn't much progress made (people need to be able to jump on with #81 without having read #80.5, so about half the issue consisted of flashbacks presenting the original series to new readers and reminding old readers of what came before), it felt quite like that old setting. One thing that I realized after having read it is that this issue makes it quite obvious that it follows on the old continuity, in stark contrast to Generation 2 which didn't bother much with past continuity at all.

Good, now I'm even more excited to read it. I feel it's important to both strongly connect to the original plotline and expand onto new adventures. The few preview pictures I've seen online so far don't really mention much of the original plotline, but I'm hoping to see a much stronger connection when I actually get to read the comic.

Lots and lots of 80.5-issues sent out today. Unfortunately I think there's a risk that they may be delayed by another day - the mailbox sounded very empty when I put the first letters in it, so I suspect it's possible that the mailman emptied it early (which they're not supposed to do.)

Well, in any case, I'm finally getting my hands on issue #80.5 by the next weekend. I'm wishing for the story to first strongly connect to the original G1 comic, and then develop the storylines in all new directions, and starting new storylines.
I apologise in advance if this comes across as needless criticism and whining, but I'd rather wish the storylines were kept as down-to-Earth and down-to-Cybertron as in the original comic without getting all too mystical about the whole existence of the universe.

First and foremost I simply love the cover. Good to see Andrew back not just doing retailer incentive or retailer exclusive covers, but also the whole shebang together with Simon. Will look forward to this immensely .
